mm_chanterSo people know, and just to get the record straight, these are fictionalized representations of quick-Steppers (and a few from other teams, taking transfers and one or two others into account) and their wives and girlfriends. No disrespect or creepiness is intended here. DJ Makosa is not real in our RL universe, and even then, he's the only one whose surname will be mentioned.
Some of these people are not on the mission in Kortrijk; you don't need everybody for every encounter, after all.
Agata: Jill of all trades and reasonable talent at most of same. Another case of wrong or right time and place. Speaks Polish as a first language, French second. Married to Kwiarto.
Alcine: Maps expert. Known excellent navigator. Relative new recruit. Algerian, bilingual in Arabic and French.
An-Sophie: Excellent sentry and crack shot besides. Sharp eyes and wits to match. Doesn't trust as easily as some of the others, though she has valid reason to be wary.
Andy: Jack of all trades, getting good at tactical maneuvers. Serious and determined. Englishman studying in the wrong or right place at the equally debatable time, unable to ignore his conscience.
Brama: One of the cell leaders, by age as much as authority. One-time Italian businessman turned rebel. Good-hearted but sometimes unnecessarily edgy. Italian speaker first, French second, Flemish badly.
Derrek Makosa AKA DJ: Decent scout, fair sentry, stopgap medic in a pinch. Soft-spoken, mild-mannered worrier, prone to a stutter. Once an American student in Belgium, now gone native to the point of defaulting to Flemish or French instead of English half the time. Short and skinny, Coke bottle glasses and shoulder-length brown hair. Homoromantic asexual with a giant squish on one of his comrades. No extra points for guessing who.
Dries: NCO (noncommissioned officer) equivalent. You want him on your side during a mission. People have jokingly called him Sergeant Dries to his face, even though this cell doesn't have ranks. Often serious, but with a lighthearted streak that can show at surprising moments. short-cropped blond hair, glasses - DJ wins the Coke bottle glasses award, though.
Florian: Recent recruit. New short-distance scout - very long missions really take it out of him as yet. Even younger than DJ. Small and pale blond, and with his idealism yet undamaged. May it stay undamaged, say quite a few of his fellows. French citizen over the border.
Gert: Demolitions specialist and decent saboteur. Snarky, cynical and shrewd. His wife can make him tone down the prickliness, say his fellows, and good thing.
Iljo: Sentry, scout and budding mechanical expert. Incredibly cool under fire, literal or figurative.
Jasmine:
Jeroen: New recruit. Not specialized so far, but learning a little of everything as he goes.
Jerome AKA Jeje: Cell humorist, harmless practical joker, dedicated wingman in a fight. Decent to his core. Seb's younger brother, Sylvain's best friend. French citizen studying in Belgium when everything set off.
Kwiarto:
Laura: Cell intel. NOT just another pretty face, although she most certainly is attractive by conventional standards. Quick and clever. Gert's wife and, so he says, the only one who can stick a pin in his cynicism reliably.
Lore: Flemish for life and proud of it. Ad hoc cell quartermaster. In reality she's part sensible supply officer, part fair houseparent; she'll be stern at you, then mess up your hair when you least expect it. Happily married to Tom, who she jokes is harder to keep in line than the whole rest of the maquis... or is she joking? :)
Niki:
Sebastian the elder, AKA Seb: Technical expert, cell mechanic and the best driver in the group. Jerome's older brother. One of the two men called Sebastian, hence the diverging nicknames. It probably helps that the two similarly-named men look nothing alike; Seba is darker, where Seb is sandy-haired and taller. Talked into the rebel thing by his own brother and a couple of the others.
Sebastian the younger, AKA Seba: Jack of all trades, though keen-eyed and shrewd - not at all a bad sentry or scout. One of the two men called Sebastian in the cell, hence the diverging nicknames. Sylvain's younger brother, brought into the maquis by same.

Sylvain: primary medic for the cell, but plenty good at quiet tactical strikes as well. Well-known for being both quiet and kind, but not afraid to speak up when feathers get ruffled. Seba's older brother, Jeje's best friend. Frenchman, student in Belgium when everything set off.
Tom: One of the cell leaders, by age as much as anything. Demolitions expert, fear. Never backs down from a fight, ever. Known cheerful wild man and good-natured handful, whether or not the situation calls for it. Lore's husband; she's a good influence on him.
